Pinkish and reddish tones have become so popular this season that having an eye shadow palette in these colors is a must-have for trendy look. Yet you will certainly agree that you need only one eye shadow palette of those colors, unless you plan making a collection, or you are a professional makeup artist. Modern Renaissance by Anastasia Beverly Hills, as well as Desert Dusk by Huda beauty are in the top positions of beauty ratings these days, so many of us think, which of these two is going to be a better choice? Let us consider pros and cons of each, look into details and specs, so that you could determine, which of these two will be your next beauty investment.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance: Pros and Cons

Eye shadow palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills contains 14 eye shadows and comes with a brush. Having a brush in a palette is a definite plus. The majority of colors in the palette may be easily used for every day makeup, which is also good, if you are just about to try that pinkish eye makeup. Even if you will not use the pinky shadows, you will use the other colors in the palette. Overall, the formula of these eye shadows is smooth, yet the matte colors are somewhat dusty. For the trendy pink eye makeup you will be using Venetian Red, Buon Fresco and Love Letter shadows. Plus, you will definitely add some transition colors. We have tested this palette and compiled a complete review on it, so for more detailed information on formula and swatches you may check out our Modern Renaissance by Anastasia Beverly Hills: Review & Swatches. But if you want our opinion on these pink shadows in the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance pallet, here we go:

  1. These three pinks are semi-opaque;
  2. The colors blend well on the bare skin and over the primer;
  3. The consistency of the pins is somewhat powdery;
  4. In average, the shadows wear for 7.5 hours before they start fading out.

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk: Pros and Cons

This eye shadow palette features 18 eye shadows and definitely grabs attention of those, who are about to try that pink eye makeup, that’s why we have picked it for the comparison. In this palette, the majority of colors really feature that pinky undertone, and only a few can be used for that basic everyday makeup. The consistency of the mattes is somewhat chalky, and feels a little dry on the lid. Yet, this palette has got 3 duochromes and one glitter, which will be a definite benefit for those, who enjoy bright and glowing eye makeup. Though, here is a tip on how to apply those Huda Beauty glitters. You want to do that with your fingertips (not with a synthetic brush), and they will stay better when applied over the glitter base. Here are the things you want to know about the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk eye shadows:

  1. Expect certain chalkiness of the mattes;
  2. Shimmers feel creamy;
  3. All eye shadows are easy to blend (except the glitters);
  4. Glitters should be applied over the glitter base with the fingertips.

I always use my Huda Palette for my bright looks. I love their glitters, as they do not fall out. The only thing I don't like about the palette is its price, yet it is a good investment.
